Summer Blog 1: Having a child-like innocence

Hey everybody!

My first month of summer has been crazy!  I finally have a chance to share some of it with you now.  In regards to my last blog, the situation worked out and nothing came of it.  I also found out that the man I mentioned is going to go on a choral tour of Europe even though he didn't audition!  I am so happy that things worked out.

In my life, I have been working several weeks at Amigo Centre / Camp Amigo with O/EE (Outdoor / Environmental Education).  School groups come in and we teach their third to sixth grades (depending on the school) things varying from cooperational games and archery to marsh studies and geology.

After these last few weeks, I can't help but be reminded of something Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them.  For theirs is the kingdom of God."  There were days over the past few weeks where I was working 8 AM to 10 PM and had to be back at work by 7 AM the next day, but I was never really beaten down by this.  This may seem weird, but I felt like I was feeding of the energy of the kids.

Jesus knew the importance of children.  They may be hard to deal with some days, but they bring joy, hope, fun, happiness to any situation, and they are the future.  One thing though stands out more than any of this:  their innocence.

The innocence I mean is a little different than you may expect.  Part of it is just wondering about things you don't understand, and I have witnessed this over and over again.  Why don't we just look around and wonder about the world:  the beauty of a flower, the joy of just listening to things at night, the desire to just understand everything.

Then I thought of something else, why don't we have an innocent desire to try to understand as much as we can about God.  We know things, but how often do we dig even deeper to discover even more.  Being around children as much as I have has shown me this.  We need to try to discover with such energy and vigor that those around us cannot help but appreciate our desire to learn.

Until next time,

Trevor

I like to read articles, which are really interesting and informative, and this is exactly about your article. In the past I didn't like to read that much and prefered download and read books from the Internet, but several times I came across worthy articles, and am not that categorical ever since :)
